How do I register my pet and how much does it cost?

Registering an animal is a two step process.

Step 1: Your Companion Animal has to be microchipped, this can be done by your local Vet. Your pets microchip information will be forwarded by the Vet to Council, then all of your pets details will be entered onto the NSW Companion Animal Pet Registry web site.

Step 2: You now need to register your Companion Animal. All Companion Animals need to be registered from the age of 6 months, all registration fees are for the life of the animal whilst it resides in NSW and will not have to be paid annually. Please remember if you sell or give away your Companion Animal or you move addresses, that you contact your local Council as soon as possible to change your details. If you have any further queries, please dont hesitate in contacting Berrigan Shire Council 03 5888 5100.

Lifetime Registration Fees:

  • Non desexed: $150
  • Desexed animal: $40 (must show proof)
  • Pensioner with desexed animal: $15 (must show proof)
  • Working dog: Exempt (must show proof)
  • Registered Breeder: $40 (must show proof)
